Web Analysis on Jeets Hair and Beauty

Introduction

For this task I will be evaluating a commercial website called Jeets Hair and Beauty. You can view this website by clicking on the link provided.

http://www.jeets.co.uk/index.htm

The purpose of this website is to promote products and services in the salon. The website is aimed at females around the age groups of sixteen and above. This website is aimed at women who are from the Tameside area and not far places such as London and Derby. So, the location of this salon has its own group.

The females who are most likely to use this site will be looking for bridal information, products and services sold in the salon such as waxing or hair cutting.

On the service page which can be found on the menu bar from home page, another menu bar can be seen which includes all the services that the business provides. Basically the pages are broken down for you. This is a strength for the company as the user can go straight to the page that they want without having to waste time looking around for the page that they want bearing in mind that users don’t like spending a lot of time looking for the information.

Also, another strength for this business is that they don’t include a gallery in bar. In fact, they have included the pictures with the different types of services available such as Henna Tattoos. This is good because the user can read the information and look at the images to decide whether they would to have that or not.

Every single page it included a telephone number for booking appointments. However, this is a weakness because it doesn’t say who to contact. This is bad as customers will not know who to contact.

Another, weakness for the business is that the layout of the pages seems to be overcrowded with pictures such as salon page. The space could be used to actually give names of products they use in the salon.

When looking for where the business was based, I had gone on the home page and clicked on the “contact” only to find out that no maps were included to instruct you to where the place is. I think this section is not useful what so ever because if a customer was coming from Denton then they would not be able to find the place if they were lost.

When looking for prices on waxing I had found the page by clicking on prices from the menu toolbar however, when arriving to the page the prices were not the actually price as it had “from” at the end of the service that they provide. This is bad because this means that you would have to waste your time phoning these people up to find out the price of waxing which will add costs to your phone bill.

Understanding how social websites can help you develop your leaning skills

Understanding how social websites can help you develop your leaning skills.

Micro-blogging allows people to transfer any short messages, pictures to friends or other people. Micro-blogging allows you to write anything of your choice.

There are many examples of Micro-Blogging websites; two of them are twitter and jaiku. These websites allow you to build a network with people that you can trust and to people you don’t know. This is good because if you have any question about certain subjects then you can raise awareness by writing a blog in which people can then see and comment on. The bigger network, bigger response you will get. Social Websites such as Twitter and Jaiku are now expanding even futher to help you with your leaning.

Another advantage is that you can access it anywhere at anytime using your Ipod touch or your mobile and this is good because if you need to update pictures and you’re not next to a computer then you can always use your phone or Ipod touch to do this. The mobile phones and safety tell you about different ways to access social websites.
